Moments of the Snow Moon & Me

I love the full moon and have envied those that get perfect photo shots of them appearing to be holding the moon in their hands and other ingenious ways. This week I took a few shots of my own. They aren't super creative, but they are my original shots. Then posted this poem.
Ah, the full moon at just the right spot Will make a perfect basket, hard fought, Teeter on top of a pole, or not; And enhance the beam of the Temple when caught.
There were outdoor basketball standards all over the neighborhood, but not one in the right spot at the right time. This one was promising until I realized the roof and tree were in the way, but you get the idea anyway.
I could have centered the moon on top of the pole better. In fact it just looks like a street light, but I know different. Next month, maybe a little more creativity will turn it into something spectacular, if it isn't already cool enough as it is.

Up Where the Air is Clear

The valley has been cold and polluted all week long. Above it all the skies are blue and the air clear. I grabbed my skis and went up to enjoy the morning in Millcreek Canyon. I haven't made it up there since last year, so I was a bit shaky on the skis at first. When there's snow in the valley, I ski in the parks and along the Jordan River.
But today, it's the canyon to test my skills. The snow was icy and slippery, but up, up I traveled. Some guys along the way, asked if I wanted them to take a picture. I said, No, but then, changed my mind and they snapped a few. I was even upright. In fact, I didn't even fall once. Not to say that I didn't come close a time or two. Instead, taking it really slow and easy, onward I trekked, stopping now and then to look at the blue, blue sky. Who needs a broken bone at my age? There were more dogs than people, but we all got along great.
I made it to the top where the outhouse sits, many trails converge and road veers to the right. I snapped a selfie, with the trail sign in the background. The last section to the top, was really steep and few hikers got that far. I chickened out and took my skiis off before going down, because of the icy conditions and knew I couldn't make it without a tumble or two. At a safe spot the skis went back on and I flew the rest of the way down.
"Time to go up where the air is clear, To breathe and ski. It was dear. What a lovely day and time to cheer. Because, better weather is very near." It felt better than if I had flown a kite, up where the air is clear, because the atmosphere was amazing. Maybe you should try it, but go early. It gets really busy after noon and parking is scarce.

Stuck in the Muck

Oh, what a mess we are in. Visibility is poor and there's more.
This week’s air felt like wading in dirty dishwater. I wouldn’t advise it for a friend, son or daughter. In the mountains the air is pristine and hotter. This place isn't even suited for a sea otter.
The valleys of the Wasatch are swimming in muck. The dirty air is getting worse and now seems stuck. It's caused by fires, congestion, cars and truck. A brisk wind would blow it away and bring good luck.
Driving east to the mountains one discovers a whole new world of clear blue skies and mild weather. Looking out over the valleys, a gray cloud has dropped onto the cities down below. Soon the winds and storms will come, then we will enjoy clear skies again. I think I'll take a ride up yonder hills tomorrow.

Super Snowman & All

Once there was an Elder Snowman, oh so tall! In the sun, slush and rain he taught one and all. Through hard work & more he melted the wall. His great example was bigger than small.
I caught sight of this cute missionary snowman last week. How fun to welcome one and all, with his arms open wide. He was out front for several days. I left for work early to have time to stop and snap a photo of him. This little guy made my day. Here is another version: Once there was an Elder Snow. Man he was tall! In the sun he melted our hearts one and all. Didn't take long till he received his call. To teach a family, by the name of Small.
