A Little Bit Amish Country

When in Pennsylvania do as the locals do, go see the Amish country.  The tour bus ride around to many of the farms was great along with the background history.  Green blinds are Amish homes she said as we wondered how to determine which homes were theirs.  No vehicles in the driveways was another clue.   

A real Amish wagon ride was $10, so we opted for photos of them coming and going about town.  

 We stopped at a few farms with gift shops to browse the handmade wares and munch on baked goods. 

 Farmers in the field guiding the discs with between five and eight head of horses amazed us as we watched their straight rows and skilled talents. My grandfather used two horses on his little five acres until the mid 60's. 

Children riding bike/scooters (a combination of the two) waving and smiling at us as they zipped along the roads coming from school.

Candy Crush

I have a crush on certain candies such as Salted Nut Rolls, Cadbury Mini Eggs,  cinnamon sugar hearts, Pecan Logs, Truffles and the list goes on.  The day after holidays often finds me, in the store rumaging through the seasonal sales.  If you wait too long hoping for a better price, you may miss out when they clearance them. 

Some people prefer to play the Candy Crush game instead.  Less calories and expense.  I was shocked when a friend bragged she was on level 61.  What a waste I told an employee friend, who confessed 105 as her last level.  I refuse to even go to the site, I said. 
 

 

I hit the Jackpot a few weeks ago finding a shopping cart full of bags of Cadbury Mini Eggs for $.50 each I paid $3 a bag for before Easter. Ten didn't seem like enough so I bought 20 bags. That should be enough for a year's supply or tide me over until the next great deal. 

100, Way to GO!

Most kindergarten classes celebrate reaching their 100th day of school.  Kids and teachers alike look forward to it.   Some children are encouraged to bring 100 of something.  My grandson, Zach, made an abacas. 

Today is the 100th day of 2013, April 10th.  Hip-hip hurray!

 Spring has sprung.
The year more than begun.

Our winter clothes we've hung
While we stretch and begin to run.


Looking forward to lots of fun,
Before this year is done.

BB's, Beside A Bunch of Bargains

Join the 'Alliteration Club'.  On a recent trip back East, I discovered many Americans love using the same letter multiple times, such as BB's.  We visited the store buying too many snacks and such. 

Beside bargains many Amish workers and shoppers filled their carts, with freight damaged and soon-to-expire goods at BB's.  Going about their shopping, I looky-looed away at what it was like to be among the Amish.  Come to find out, I'm not much different. 

 

I even laughted, when my daughter commented I looked just like the Amish during a chilly game of volleyball, with jacket hood pulled up and a long blue skirt on. She was right.  I do.
