Pre-Sixty Strife

In my early years I was jealous of those gals that were the oldest in the class.  They got to date and drive the first.  Being a summer birthday gal, I was one of the last to 'Do it all!'  Now I'm glad, because they are now much 'OLDER' than me.  Which means they are all hitting the big decade marks first.   Luckily being the younger one, I am still in my fifties.  Barely!

Today begins the big thirty day countdown to (I hate to even mouth the age) s i x t y.  Yuck! Ten years ago at the half-century mark, it wasn't even on the horizon.  I remember it like yesterday turning fifty and thinking, "This isn't so bad!"  Now it is staring me in the face. Yikes!

My body is preparing me gradually as it breaks down on a weekly basis with hip, back, head, gastro-intestinal and other nonmentionable crises.  What will it be like, when I have arrived?  Remember Y2K?  This is nearly as scary.  But, we can do hard things, and this too shall pass.  Hang on and see you at 60.

Stella is So Stylin'

The Stella papers utilize Lagoon, Smoothie and Cocoa colors that say, "Here I am, Snappy and Stylin!"  The colored bubble shaped papers made it fun to use as a focal point.  The softer tones took a back seat driver spot, complimenting the bold statement.

Be sure to order the Fashionista D1504 or the Just for You B1398 Stamp sets which match the papers perfectly.

We chose a 'Cherish the Day' headline for the times when we want those superior days to last forever.  They can, too, as we remember them through our timey scrapbook treasures.  See you May 16th at 7pm to make the Stella pages and a little more.

Rich With Recipes

"This is delicious! I need the recipe," we say, then can't find it when we're ready to try it.  Oh, the joy of a new treat to take to the party and have everyone rave over it.  We all love to do it and can't wait to have another piece or find the next best one.  I even know a gal that has won a trip with Pillsbury, to test hers skills with the best of them.

Who doesn't have more recipes than they can keep track of?  We do!  Like birds searching the lawns for yet another worm we find recipes on line, at events, dinners, from friends.  But alas, there's no place to keep them all.  Come make a Recipe binder to keep them all nicely organized together.  June 4th 3-5pm is the class.  Bring your own binder ($3) or get it here for only $8, which includes all the supplies.

Oh, My Achin' Back

Elaine, my sister-in-law likes to use this term.  Now I 'really' know what it means, having injured some ligaments a few weeks ago.  I have a new appreciation for neighbors that have suffered chronically for years with back problems to the point of several surgeries.  They are flat in bed this moment, dealing with this debilitating challenge.  My apologies for not being more empathetic.

Who would have thought thirty minutes on my hands and knees would result in not being able to get up?

Backs bear alot of brunts and bounces without us realizing they are the braun of our body. Not being able to bend over, tie a shoe, stand up quickly or even sit for very long makes for not much fun.

Two weeks in I am really appreciating the mobility that is coming 'back' into my back.  Now I will forever treat it with more kindness by squatting more, sitting straighter and being more careful.  Exercises to strengthen it helps.   The bounce in my step is better than the snail slow movements of these past weeks.  Sharp shooting pains have made way to standing up from a seated position successfully.
Is this a precurser of old age?  Waa waa!:(
