Mom's Mix, Match and Measure
It's that time of year when we honor our mom's or we are honored because we're one of them! 'I don't need anything', we say. Mainly because we really don't want more smelly (I mean, perfumed) lotion, towels, trowels, treats or tasteless trivia.
What we do need are: Naps, offers to clean the kitchen, fridge or tub and time to read that book we've been meaning to get to all month.
It doesn't hurt to have a Cupcake booklet with color photos and recipes of assorted different types of these mini bundtlets. Super easy and quick to make then give to friends and family. Come to the class on May 2nd @7pm and May 7th from 3-5pm. Check out our exclusive papers at ClosetoMyHeart.com. Email me at skip50schmidt@yahoo or gmail.com to be added to the Close to My Heart monthly newsletter. Come uncrank yourself at Colleen's Classes.

Whipped Cream World
Outside it looks like a whipped cream world with an abundance of flowering trees in bloom. Pink, white, fushia cotton candy balls line the roads bursting at their seams, like a milkshake oozing out of its home unable to hold its sweet contents.
I can scarcely take in all the unusual beauty obliterating its former gray, bleak winter landscape. The old washed-out spinster world has transformed into the yummiest raspberry cheesecake dessert with narry a recipe to compare discarding its old winter wear.
Trees have put on their finest bling and our best baubles cower in comparison to them. Odors only enjoyed in the spring emanating from a nearby frosted tree make us wonder, what that foreign smell is.

I'm Lovin' Lucy
These Lucy papers are fun and flattering. I'm am lovin' how they beg for some cuddly photos to complete the look. Using Blush, Leaf Green and Grey Wool with a bit of Creme Brulee the colors are vibrant and alive. Buttoms and babbles complete the look with an "Express Yourself" statement. Using a corner rounder, needle and thread, with a little folding you will make these flowers pop off the page.
We will learn paper and lace flowermaking on Thursday, April 12th at 7pm.
Email if you are coming.
Finally Found
At Thanksgiving when the grandchildren were visiting, we checked out fifteen books and movies to keep them busy reading while away from home. It never fails, something has to disappear. No matter where I look, it isn't the right place until the fine reaches $8 or I have to buy the item.
This year followed the same path as before. I looked high, low, under, around and prayed many days, to no avail. When the library listed the book as lost and set the price, I decided it was time to clear the debt, but hadn't gotten there to pay for it yet.
So, what to my wondering eyes should appear yesterday, 'The Masquerade Brawl'!! Ha le lu yah!!@ The reader was hiding in plain sight. It wasn't the children's style book I had been searching for. You know the kind 10 x 12" with the big colorful glossy pages or the typical 5 x 7" paper back. Turns out our elusive guy was a thinly disguised comic book. I even read it for good measure today.
I'm just glad the library only charged $5 for it and my account is now in the black. I probably should have kept it.

Get Flirty With Florentine
The Florentine (x7153B) pages have an old French Chateau feel to them. No, I've never been there, but felt that I was when using these papers. The swirls, flourishes and icon designs on the striped paper make great borders, cut-outs and focus points. The Creme Brulee, Brown Bag and Twilight Blue colors blend to make a roomy spot for your family photos. These easy to assemble 12 x 12's have all you need to finish in an hour. The tag and pocket create a starting point to make a statement. See you at our next class April 12th.

Building Bunnies
While Jory and Sarah have been raising bunnies, I have been creating them. (See their blog @ JorandSarieSchmidt.blogspot.com) Pulling out my unfinished wood items, I found this white painted fella needing some legs and final touches. Checking my stash of fabric for the wood bunny, this border print with Peter Rabbit scenes surfaced. Waiting for a grand daughter who would be the right age for a homemade dress, it has been on the shelf for many years.
Finding some blue gingham pieces that were cut out at least twenty years ago for a shirt waist dress, I used it for the wood bunny legs and little girl dress. A cuter than cute jumper was sewn together, using the bunny family fabric. Two more projects are completed and ready for their coming out. Yeah!! Happy Easter.
