Very Old Valentine
My mother was great at giving really wonderful Valentine gifts. One year she gave my sister and me some necklaces. My square pendant contained a deep purple orchid in a black setting. The striking color and beautiful detail made it easy to wear with pride. Often I would study the etched clear plexi-glass admiring, the flower's beauty.
My sister received a red rose in a diamond shape clear plastic, with a velvety looking back, also. I don't know if she loved hers as much as I did mine, but to this day, fifty years later, although scratched and inexpensive, I still love the treasure. I continue to think it is the most beautiful, piece of jewelry I own.
