Finally Found
At Thanksgiving when the grandchildren were visiting, we checked out fifteen books and movies to keep them busy reading while away from home. It never fails, something has to disappear. No matter where I look, it isn't the right place until the fine reaches $8 or I have to buy the item.
This year followed the same path as before. I looked high, low, under, around and prayed many days, to no avail. When the library listed the book as lost and set the price, I decided it was time to clear the debt, but hadn't gotten there to pay for it yet.
So, what to my wondering eyes should appear yesterday, 'The Masquerade Brawl'!! Ha le lu yah!!@ The reader was hiding in plain sight. It wasn't the children's style book I had been searching for. You know the kind 10 x 12" with the big colorful glossy pages or the typical 5 x 7" paper back. Turns out our elusive guy was a thinly disguised comic book. I even read it for good measure today.
I'm just glad the library only charged $5 for it and my account is now in the black. I probably should have kept it.

Get Flirty With Florentine
The Florentine (x7153B) pages have an old French Chateau feel to them. No, I've never been there, but felt that I was when using these papers. The swirls, flourishes and icon designs on the striped paper make great borders, cut-outs and focus points. The Creme Brulee, Brown Bag and Twilight Blue colors blend to make a roomy spot for your family photos. These easy to assemble 12 x 12's have all you need to finish in an hour. The tag and pocket create a starting point to make a statement. See you at our next class April 12th.

Building Bunnies
While Jory and Sarah have been raising bunnies, I have been creating them. (See their blog @ JorandSarieSchmidt.blogspot.com) Pulling out my unfinished wood items, I found this white painted fella needing some legs and final touches. Checking my stash of fabric for the wood bunny, this border print with Peter Rabbit scenes surfaced. Waiting for a grand daughter who would be the right age for a homemade dress, it has been on the shelf for many years.
Finding some blue gingham pieces that were cut out at least twenty years ago for a shirt waist dress, I used it for the wood bunny legs and little girl dress. A cuter than cute jumper was sewn together, using the bunny family fabric. Two more projects are completed and ready for their coming out. Yeah!! Happy Easter.

Tissue Tug-of-War
My brother-in-law says I'm the cheapest person he knows, because I used to tear tissues in half.
That was only when there were lots of children around and tiny sniffles to wipe. Why use a whole tissue for a little runny nose, then be forever running for another one. Half of a Kleenex will do now and the other half in ten minutes or so. With fewer little ones and runny noses to tend, I now have a good supply. Gone are the days of using part for now and the rest for later. I have graduated to a full tissue. Just thought you would like to know. Better than that, is the fact that I rarely get a cold anymore, too.

My Personal Progress
This shelf was purchased and hung on the stair wall a few years ago in an arrangement of photos and such. It has had the black and white factory pictures in the display ever since. Finally I got around to putting my own choice of background in the photo spots. Three picture sections makes it difficult to choose a specific family member, so artwork with a little fancy paper was selected instead. The artist is Jody Steen, a professional artist on display in several art galleries in Salt Lake. This 2x2 watercolor is all I could afford, but it is good.
One baby-step of progress was completed. When will I find the time to get caught up with the demands of life? Probably never, but at least this is done. Check!

A Perfect Play and Performance
Pioneer Memorial Theater performed the play, Emma, recently. I had to go, so I bought the cheapest tickets, $27 and invited Melody to come get some refinement with me. The matinee was full of old folks like me, but she was a good sport.
The stage was beautiful and amazing. A hidden door opened up in the floor so a bench could pop up. Two rotating twelve foot circles, also in the floor, made it possible for the actors to appear to be walking, but not go anywhere. Finely decorated panels moved back and forth, from side to side for no reason, but to keep us entertained while the set was quickly transformed. What great seats we had in the amazing theater.
That evening Allan and I went to the Utah Symphony. It was time to do it all, or if I waited too long to buy the tickets, do nothing. I took the leap and paid the price driving to Abravanel Hall on my lunch hour to get the tickets. Pictures could not be taken during the performance, but that didn't stop me from snapping some interesting ones of the before and after scenes. This gold leafed theater is close to being in heaven. Look at the interesting pattern the lights in the great entry hall make. Take the leap and attend a play, performance or 'piece of work' this spring.

1460 Days to Play
Here we are Leap Year Day, Feb 29th at 10:55 pm and I've taken my sleeping pill. Any minute I may fall asleep at the computer to be found with my head on the keyboard fast asleep. Yet I have to say what a great day it has been. The only 29th of February in the past 1460+ days.
Do something brave, fun or different today. A big snow storm hit the valley at 5pm, but even with four stops I had to make, a safe arrival at home just after 6pm was acheived. Yeah!
It's time to put away all the red Valentine stuff and gather everything green for March. Before we know it Day Light Savings time will be here, St. Patty's Day then Easter. So much to do & so little time.
Happy Leap Day and many more, too. Here's to all those Leap Year Babies..Have a Happy Birthday!
